Genlockable Sync Pulse
Generator - EZEEFAZE SPG
Broadcast Video Genlockable Sync Pulse Generator.
Features
- EZEEFAZE is a genlockable sync pulse generator for broadcast studio
use. As it is primarily designed to be locked to a master reference,
considerable savings have been achieved, making it particularly cost
effective.
Applications
- It may be used in a studio environment to genlock equipment such as PAL
coders, mixers and some chroma key units that normally require a full set of
pulses.
- There are a number of computer graphic systems, VT clocks and character
generators in use which lock to colour black but only provide colour subcarrier
phasing adjustment. On these devices the output syncs emerge with a fixed delay
relative to the input. Although the studio can be timed to this source, the
situation becomes more complex when there is more than one such piece of
equipment. In this instance an EZEEFAZE may be inserted between the
station SPG and the device. The timing may then be adjusted on the EZEEFAZE.
- Another use for EZEEFAZE is to enable a source to be remotely phased.
For example, if a telecine machine is to be shared between a number of studios
via a switching matrix, care must be taken to ensure the source is correctly
timed at its destination. By installing an EZEEFAZE at this point and
feeding a locking signal back to the telecine, the source timing may then be
conveniently adjusted.
- Although it was envisaged that EZEEFAZE would always be used as a
slave to a station SPG, it is ideal for 'blacking' video cassettes.
- As an option for ENG applications 12V DC operation is available.
- Horizontal and subcarrier phase may be adjusted at the front panel or
externally with DC controls. A preset store is available allowing instant recall
of up to eight timings.
Outputs
EZEEFAZE provides outputs of mixed sync, mixed blanking, burst gate,
PAL square wave, subcarrier, horizontal and vertical drives and three of colour
black. The horizontal timings may be adjusted by ±4µS with respect to the
input signal, and the subcarrier may be adjusted by at least 360°.
SCH Relationship
There is a school of thought that suggests that equipment should not have
separate H and SC phase adjustments. This may well be valid. However, as the
majority of studio equipment encountered does have separate adjustment, EZEEFAZE
also has both, thus enabling corrections to be made to 'incorrectly' SCH
adjusted equipment. If the EZEEFAZE is to be used as a free-standing
source with 1" VT machines, an internal adjustment of SCH is available to
order.
Ordering Information
The EZEEFAZE is available in the following versions: Type 2001 has
pulse outputs only, and Type 2002 has pulse outputs and colour black. Each
version is available in PAL or NTSC, rack mount or portable.
