BROADCAST VIDEO ENCODER
- The VIP120 is one of the most versatile broadcast specification
PAL/NTSC encoders available today. It has been designed to meet the most demanding
system requirements with a very comprehensive range of facilities, all housed in
a compact 19" 1U frame. The fully modular construction allows customised
versions of the unit to be produced for particular applications.
- The encoder is available in PAL or NTSC versions, and can also be supplied as
dual standard PAL/NTSC. The unit will accept both RGB and YPrPb inputs and, in
addition to the three encoded outputs, also provides both YC and YPrPb outputs -
facilities which could allow significant saving in converters or component
transcoders in a typical installation.
- The built-in SPG will lock to a composite colour signal or coulour black.
With no reference input, it will free run whilst maintaining the SCH
relationship. A generous horizontal phasing range and continuously variable
sub-carrier phase means that system timing can be greatly simplified.
- Other standard facilities include an integral colour bar generator and a key
signal delay. The key delay allows co-timing of key and encoded output signals,
which together with pulse outputs of mixed sync and mixed blanking, acter for
the installation of equipment such as character generators and computer graphics
workstations.
- A very significant feature of the VIP120 is the option to include a built in
linear or hard keyer - the VIP
820 Broadcast Encoder/Keyer. This, again, makes the encoder ideal for use
with character generators or similar equipment.
